COVID-19 Vaccine Update 25.01.21

Please do not contact the practice to query if you are eligible or if we have any clinics available. We are working through the government defined cohort of patients. If you have not heard anything this may be because there are no clinics available. This is out of the practices control.

As soon as clinics become available we will text a new link for patients to book.  

We are also making our way through the list of patients without a mobile phone. Please update your contact details to include your mobile phone where possible.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update 20.01.21

As many of you are aware as a practice we have started to book in the first target cohorts for the Covid vaccinations, this is the over 80s, over 70s and clinically vulnerable. We are sending out text message links for patients to book themselves if you cannot manage this yourself then contact the practice when you have received a link and we will book in for you. If you do not have a mobile we are contacting patients by landline. Please update us if you do have a mobile phone.

We are extremely busy at the moment and everyone is working hard to ensure patients are booked in. We ask patients do not contact the practice and we will contact you when we have appointment availability.

Please be assured we are starting housebound patients as soon as we can.

COVID-19 Vaccines - Update 07.01.21

We currently do not have any information of when we will receive the COVID-19 vaccinations in practice. We or NHS England will contact patients as soon as we have this. Everyone is working hard to ensure this happens as soon as possible so please do not contact the practice to query this.

Beware - COVID Vaccine scam text messages

Today we have been alerted to a highly believable scam which starts with a text and advises the user that they are eligible to apply for the vaccine and to click on the link in the text message.  The user is then led to a webpage, which looks very convincing and asks them to complete some details, in order for them to be able to apply for the vaccine.   The details asked for: Name Address Date of birth Proof of address Card payment details   With the recent approval of multiple vaccines in the UK, these types of scam attempts are likely to continue, as fraudsters continue to take advantage of the roll-out to some many people.   Please see our article on this website:  https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/news/fake-text-identifying-you-eligible-covid-19-vaccine

The importance of attending your smear appointment

During this busy time it is still important to keep attending your scheduled smear appointments. At the surgery we have noticed an increase in the number of patients not attending these. The practice is very busy and this is a waste of practice nurse time. Online Access

Online Booking of GP Appointments and Ordering of Repeat Medication

We have an online system to enable patients to book some appointments with a GP and also for the ordering of repeat medication.  In order to use this, you will need to register for the service by calling at one of our surgeries with some identification. The administrative staff will then issue you with a user name and a password together with details of the website address for you to log in. Once you log in, you will be able to change your password.

GP Appointments

In order to reduce the number of calls to the surgery, especially first thing in the morning, a number of pre-bookable appointments will be available for booking with the GPs up to 4 weeks in advance. There will be a limit on the number of appointments available via the online booking system in order that not all the appointments are booked prior to the day.

If you have more than 2 appointments already booked with any of our clinical staff, then you will not be able to book any appointments on line.

Appointments with the Nurses and Healthcare Assistants will still need to be booked by contacting the surgery direct due to the variable length of them depending on what they are for.

Prescriptions

The system will allow you to order your repeat medication online up to 7 days before it is due. This should give sufficient time for us to action your request and for you to then collect the prescription and take it to the pharmacy for your medication to be dispensed. The prescription will normally be ready for you to collect 2 working days after you request it.

If you need to see a clinician for a review of your medication, you will not be able to order your prescription on line. Also, if you try to order it prior to 7 days before it is due, again, you will not be able to order it. Should you require your prescription earlier than usual (for example, you need it before going on holiday), you will need to let us have a normal written request.

Other Services

As well as pre-booking an appointment with a GP and reordering your repeat medication, you can also update us with any change of address and/or telephone number.

Periodically, we may have some questionnaires available and we would appreciate it if you would take the time to complete any that are applicable.

You will be able to change your password. This should be done when you initially log on to the service and then periodically afterwards. If you believe anyone knows your logon details, change your password immediately. This is a secure facility and should anyone obtain your log on details, they will only be able to see what appointments you have recently had or have booked and any regular medication you are on; there is no access to your medical record.
